Nvidia is currently being showered with money by AI companies
The current developments in the infrastructure of the IT industry benefit the chip manufacturerNvidia is not just a benefit. The company is experiencing an explosive increase in sales figures.
More than just growth
As the GPU group announced in its latest balance sheet presentation, it achieved sales of $18.12 billion in the third quarter of this year. Compared to the comparable period of the previous year, in which Nvidia achieved revenues of $5.93 billion, this corresponds to an increase of 206 percent – a little more than tripling.
This development is of course also reflected in profit. The bottom line was a surplus of $680 million a year ago. Now Nvidia was able to book $9.24 billion here. It’s hardly worth mentioning that the company significantly exceeded analysts’ expectations with these figures.
The massive increase comes primarily from the data center department. Through these, Nvidia can actually do everything you want in terms of AI accelerators currently produced, sell directly to the developers of the large AI models at impressive prices. This is reflected in sales of $14.51 billion in this area – 279 percent growth or almost quadrupling year-on-year.
Gaming business shines
And there is nothing to suggest that the end of the line has already been reached here. “Large language model startups, consumer internet companies and global cloud service providers were the first – the next waves are only now emerging,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. “The era of generative AI is dawning.”
It’s mostly just a side note that Nvidia’s classic gaming business also works pretty well. Sales of GPUs for the graphics card market also achieved sales growth of 81 percent to $2.86 billion, which not so long ago would have been cause for celebration in itself.
